It’s a great day in my neighborhood. Trust you all are having a great day where you are. Having family and friends for lunch after Church. Looking for a great time of eating and fellowship. Good times! I’ve been searching for a recipe that Sonic use to have before they changed the recipe for onion rings. The crust was so light and crispy. The ones they have now I think have corn meal batter, I’m not sure, but the ones they had first weren’t greasy, the batter stayed on the onion rings. I will keep searching till I find one that’s like it. Have you gone in someplace to eat and they have something on the menu that is so delicious you want to know how it was made? That’s me. Or you go back to the same place and they’ve taken it off the menu. Was going through some of my mommas old recipes and I found her recipe for Arkansas Chocolate gravy. I was excited to see that. We had that in the wintertime with hot biscuits. So good. You can serve it over waffles or pancakes too. We always preferred the biscuits. Looking through her recipes brings back a lot of sweet memories. I look at some of the recipes and I’m thinking…yes I remember having that maybe for a birthday, Thanksgiving, Christmas or a Sunday dinner. To me cooking makes memories for your family. Aww the good times in the kitchen. My sister and I have such a fun time when we talk about our early times we shared in the kitchen. When I was first married, I really wanted to impress my new husband and family with my cooking. I invited my Aunt and Uncle over to watch I love Lucy on our new 17″ black and white tv. Back then in my family hardly anyone had a tv. When they arrived, I decided to make popcorn to snack on. The largest pan I had was 1 quart size. I put the shortening in the pan and poured in 1 cup of popcorn, salt and pepper put the lid on the pan, when the corn begin to pop I had corn all over the place. I had 1 bowl and a couple cereal bowls, being newly weds, we had very little dishes and pots and pans, I was hurrying around trying to save the corn that was all over the place. Lol. I was teased by my uncle after that, He would ask ” you have any of that popcorn left over for tonight?” I think about that every time I make popcorn! I thought to myself, this is just what Lucy would be like making Popcorn. Lol. I trust I’ve made you smile today. Enjoy your times in the kitchen. It’s a good thing when we can laugh at ourselves..have a good day…Jeri
