2 cups self rising flour
1/3 cup heaping room tempture #Butter Crisco
1 cup ice cold #Hiland buttermilk.
Pre heat oven 400 degrees. In a baking dish or iron skillet add bacon grease to coat bottom and sides of dish. In a bowl add self rising flour. Fluff with a fork. Add Crisco. Cut in with a fork till flour and Crisco is pea size. Add buttermilk. Mix slowly just till dough comes together. Pour dough on a floured board. Knead lightly 3 to 4 times. Don’t over work the dough. You can pat out the dough to 3/4 to 1 inch thick and cut with a 3″ biscuit cutter, place biscuits in pre pared pan. Top each biscuit with a little melted bacon grease. Let rise slightly, about 5- 10 mins.place in. 400 degree oven, Bake 25 mins or till golden brown. I prefer to pinch the dough off to about 3″ balls and pat them out to make my biscuits. Biscuits and jelly or with Spicy Sausage Gravy. Enjoy!
